Does a “soulmate” (if such a thing exists) have to be someone you’re romantic with?

The concept is pretty open-ended for definition so I can’t imagine why it can’t be. I believe the original idea comes from the Chinese proverb about invisible strings fating people to meet and it doesn’t mention romantic love explicitly so yeah, sure
